COMPETITION WINNER!

a while ago I ran a competition on social media and, because I'm extremely disorganised (though keep promising myself I will become extremely organised any moment now) I have only just gotten around to pulling a competition winner. Well, I tell a lie; I didn't pull it, an online number generator did a much better job. There were 2085 entries and number 580 was plucked from virtual obscurity. According to my state-of-the-art Excel sheet, number 580 is Beverly Slater.

'The Light Thieves and the Terrifying Dawn'

The third (and final book) in the Light Thieves series is out September 12th. Pre-orders help with book rankings which in turn help by throwing some light on the book (excuse the pun). I'm only learning the book business six books in and still an amateur but if you can, please pre-order Thieves 3.

I research all my stories or maybe it's better to say what I'm reading at any one time heavily influences my books; I might go through my inspirations in more detail in another newsletter if it's of interest? The root of this series starts in Quantum Physics, an almost magical area of science that fascinates me. I am sure I understand very little about it though, I'm also quite sure it baffles even the world's greatest minds. I meander through history stopping to spend a little time with the Aztecs and also John Dee - a fascinating historical character who straddled the fine line of a genius. Add to all that, my love-hate relationship with technology, and my hope for my children's future. There's also a touch of Eckhart Tolle, I came upon his books a long time ago and didn't understand a thing. As I've grown older (not wiser) his words have started to seep in so I've put a few of them into this series.

I hope you like it. I'm proud of Grian, Shelli and Jeffrey. People know that the sun is being stolen by tech-billionaire Howard Hansom, who's been spinning everyone a massive lie.

QUICK REVIEW OF WHAT I'M UP TO...

I'm preparing to go camping in Spain and can't wait. We did it last year in France and though I was nervous about sleeping weeks in a tent it was amazing. We board the ferry tomorrow.

I'm also finishing a pilot for a very exciting project. Learning scriptwriting is one of the best things I've ever done. It's making me more observant of character.

I've just become a full-time writer (scary) though I'm subsidising my income by renting out the treehouse where I wrote Perfect on AirBnB.
